AKG D190E dynamic mic
A dynamic microphone with a capsule grill made of sintered bronze (the rest of the mic is in a brushed nickel finish). Some believe it sounds really good compared with Shure SM57 and SM58 dynamic mics, which are widely used. I couldn't say, but I can say that off-axis to a guitar amp, pointed at a hardwood (ok, laminate) floor, this thing sounds great.
It's also built like a tank. I doubt that dropping it, even from a couple of stories, would hurt it much.
Oh, and I've also heard that this is an updated version of the D19 dynamic mics that the Beatles used for drums and guitar. I can't verify that story, but I still like this mic. It has a certain sort of cold war, German industrial chic to it.
Technical specs: 30 Hz to 16 kHz, cardioid pattern, sensitivity 1.6 mV/Pa (-56 dBV), 280 ohms impedance. Weighs 180 grams.
